Intentional Colorado Micro Wedding || Buena Vista, CO

We are absolutely giddy to share Nicole and Brian's refined Colorado micro wedding in Buena Vista. This day was everything we love about intentional celebrations—elevated details, breathtaking scenery, and quality time with the people who matter most.

When Nicole and Brian first reached out, we instantly clicked over their vision for something truly special. They wanted intimate + intentional, and were ready to invest their budget where it would create the most impact. Music to our ears! This Colorado micro wedding was going to be all about lodging that would wow, florals that would take your breath away, and a farm-to-table dining experience—exactly the kind of elevated celebration that's our specialty.

Why Buena Vista Called Their Name

Nicole and Brian chose Buena Vista for their wedding weekend over the more popular Colorado mountain towns like Breckenridge or Telluride, and honestly, it was such a smart move. Just 60 minutes from Breck, it offered something completely different while still being accessible for their out-of-state loved ones. The drive from Denver International Airport is totally manageable, plus they fell in love with the towering peaks and pristine lakes that make this area so special.

Their Dreamy Riverfront Retreat

Let's talk about their accommodations because WOW. This riverfront retreat was absolutely out of this world—the kind of place that sets the tone for your entire wedding experience. The owners are incredibly selective about who they allow to book the property for intimate celebrations, and because Nicole and Brian had a smaller guest count with no children and everyone over 30, we were able to secure this incredible space. The owners knew we weren't planning a party but rather an intentional gathering to celebrate love—exactly what this property was designed for.

Morning coffee with those mountain views? Pure magic. Getting ready in those gorgeous natural light-filled rooms? A photographer's dream. This space became the perfect backdrop for their entire celebration!

Twin Lakes Ceremony Perfection

For their ceremony, we chose a secluded bluff overlooking Twin Lakes, and the views were absolutely breathtaking. Picture this: vintage Turkish rug marking their altar, family members shading themselves with parasols, and the most special touch—Brian's dad playing violin (Clair de Lune!) as Nicole walked down the aisle.

The late afternoon light was golden and soft, those towering peaks created the most dramatic backdrop, and the intimate setup meant every single emotion was visible and meaningful. There wasn't a dry eye in the audience as these two exchanged vows with the Colorado Rockies as their witness.

The moment they were pronounced married, we popped champagne to celebrate! Nicole's mom, an incredible artist, had hand-painted their Veuve bottles—talk about precious personal touches that make a day truly special!

A Farm-to-Table Dinner

Back at their rental, the transformation was absolutely stunning. Settings Event Rental and Double Dutch Floral had created pure magic with candlelit tables, gorgeous coral and peach florals, and an atmosphere that felt both refined and intimate.

The real star of the evening? Dinner by Graze and Torreys, which was honestly the most incredible meal we've ever experienced at a wedding. Farm-to-table ingredients prepared on-site, plated and beautifully served. They opted for family-style entrees—such a thoughtful touch that created a more intimate feel for their loved ones.

Nicole and Brian are from California and are serious wine lovers. They'd been saving a few of their favorite bottles to share with their closest people at the reception. Watching them tell the stories behind each bottle while their family listened with such love—these are the moments that make a celebration unforgettable.

As the sun set behind the mountains, their entire table glowed with candlelight. The golden hour light created that dreamy, romantic atmosphere that makes photos absolutely perfection. Pro tip: if you're planning an open flame celebration, hurricane glass is a must—it's safer and adds an elevated touch to your tablescape!

The Beauty of Small and Thoughtful

What made this Colorado micro wedding so special was how Nicole and Brian wove their family into every moment. Brian's dad playing violin during the ceremony, Nicole's mom's hand-painted champagne bottles, the intimate toasts around that gorgeous candlelit table—every detail honored the people who mattered most to them.

Their approach was simple: invest in experiences over trends, prioritize quality time with their loved ones, and create moments that would be remembered forever. This is exactly what makes micro weddings so powerful—when you keep your guest list small and intentional, every single person feels truly valued and every moment becomes more meaningful.

Our Seamless Buena Vista Wedding Experience

What sets our team apart is how we handle celebrations in locations beyond our primary specialty areas. While we don't have an established Buena Vista planning guide like we do for Breckenridge or Crested Butte, our process remains just as thorough and stress-free.

We start with detailed planning questionnaires to understand your vision, then scout locations and coordinate with our trusted Colorado vendor network. From Settings Event Rental to Graze and Torreys, we connected Nicole and Brian with incredible local talent while handling every coordination detail, timeline creation, and day-of logistics.

The beauty of our all-in-one experience means you have one point of contact for everything—no juggling between multiple vendors or wondering if details are falling through the cracks. We become your planning team and photography duo, ensuring your day flows seamlessly from those quiet getting-ready moments through your last dance under the stars. Ready to create your own intentional celebration? Let's chat about bringing your vision to life!
